Today, we watched the movie Epic. Epic is an animated film about small forest people. A girl named MK comes to make amends with her father after promising her mother that she would try to get along with him. He has a strange obsession with finding these forest people. The girl tries to get away after being fed up with her father's shenanigans, and runs into the forest queen who is dying. The queen shrinks her down and gives her the pod with the "life of the forest". She is now in charge of keeping it safe so it can bloom during the night. But the termites want to destroy the forest, so they must stop them!
I think the main theme is man vs. man or man vs. nature. I'm not sure what to consider the forest people.
I like the movie a lot because of its unique story. I haven't seen anything like it before. I also like that includes Beyoncé as a PoC character, which is rare for Disney. I think it's also cool that the ruler of the forest was a queen instead of a king like most things. I like that MK's character developed over the film and she learned to like her dad.
